Catch The Backbeat
You wake up and want to get back down
The days seemed to always drag you down
But then you catch that backbeat
(catch that backbeat)
And when you catch that backbeat
Nothing can make you blue
Your lady calls you and she’s got bad news
Your boss is steaming and he’s mad at you
But then you catch that backbeat
(catch that backbeat)
And when you catch that backbeat
Nothing can make you blue
The backbeat is gonna get you
It’s gonna’ make you shake
The back beat is beating down the street
The backbeat is gonna get you
It’s gonna’ make you quake
The backbeat will knock you off your feet
The backbeat is gonna get you
It’s gonna’ make you shake
The back beat is beating down the street
The backbeat is gonna get you
It’s gonna’ make you quake
The backbeat will knock you off your feet
Hear em calling every night and day
but nuthin's gonna stop you when you play
But then you catch that backbeat
(catch that backbeat)
And when you catch that backbeat
Nothing can make you blue
But then you catch that backbeat
(catch that backbeat)
And when you catch that backbeat
Nothing can make you blue
Catch That Backbeat is a musical testament to the rejuvenating powers of the blues.
As a young child growing up with blues in his household, young Desmond understood that the blue’s power reaches far beyond the stereotyped perceptions.
Far from a genre that wallows in sadness, the blues is frequently about rising above sadness and conquering life’s obstacles.
With this in mind, Desmond made his second contribution to the band’s repertoire, Catch That Backbeat.
